Living in El Salto: Peace and Space in the Hills of Granadilla

El Salto is a small, quiet village located above San Isidro and Granadilla de Abona. Known for its rural charm and panoramic views, El Salto is ideal for buyers seeking privacy, space, and a break from the coastal crowds — all while remaining just a 10-minute drive from the TF-1 motorway and the beaches of El Médano. With scattered houses, farmland, and unpaved roads, the area feels remote without being isolated.

Property prices are accessible: traditional country homes needing work start from around €100,000. Renovated houses or rural fincas with land usually range from €150,000 to €250,000. Larger properties with good finishes and views can reach €300,000–€400,000. There is no high-density construction; all properties are detached or semi-detached.

IBI is very low — usually under €200 per year — and there are no community fees. Most properties are fully independent, and some include agricultural land, water tanks, or solar energy setups.

Housing in El Salto is rustic and self-sufficient. Stone houses, thick walls, and large patios are typical. Some newer constructions blend local style with modern amenities. Most homes come with gardens or land, ideal for growing fruit, vegetables, or keeping animals.

The lifestyle is calm and local. Services are limited in the village itself, but San Isidro is less than 10 minutes away with shops, schools, and supermarkets. The area is perfect for outdoor lovers — surrounded by nature, trails, and open skies.

The weather is dry, warm, and breezy. El Salto sits at about 500–600 meters above sea level, which means cooler nights and excellent air quality. Winters are mild, and summer temperatures are comfortable due to altitude.

The population is a mix of Canarian families, longtime residents, and some European buyers seeking space and privacy. Spanish is essential, and the atmosphere is rural, authentic, and welcoming to those who value a peaceful life.
